People are tasting and talking...

Selected by Oprah's "O list"!...
This is a delight for us. The January issue of O Magazine featured our Umpqua Valley Gewurztraminer in the "White Essentials Super Flight" collection designed by Tastingroom.com. The story of Silk Purse is simple: Kerry's wanderings around the country as a wine consultant took him to many premium vineyard sites with absolutely delicious fruit. It became obvious to us that we needed to launch a small second brand and so we have focused on obtaining the highest quality fruit to pour into our Silk Purse line of wines.

"Kerry Damskey is only happy when he’s making wine—even if he has to go to India to do it...Some people have that ability, that knack of raising you up to their level of blissful connectedness to the world."

We had so much fun meeting with other women winemakers at the What Women Want Grand Tasting event, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco in June. The distinguished panel of the National Women's Wine Competition chose our Palmeri 2002 Cabernet Syrah for the 2007 Judges Choice Grand Sweepstakes Award.

2002 PALMERI Stagecoach Vineyard Napa Valley Syrah
"If not the most outgoung, fruit-bomb-style Syrah around, this deep and fairly complete effort certainly has enough ripe fruit at its heart to provide a solid platform for its complex mix of spice, stones, black pepper and dried berries. It is full in palate weight and firms at the back under the impact of normal tannins and balancing acidity, and, while it carries a hint of overripeness, it is table wine first and foremost."

90 points, Wine Spectator
"Intense and concentrated, with pretty floral, wild berry and blackberry flavors that are tightly wound and focused, with
touches of smoky oak folding in nicely, hints of tobacco
and cedar. Drink now through 2010. 165 cases made."

Wine Spectator, April 2004
