91PTS - 2011 Van Ness Syrah
"Palmeri has a good history with Syrah, and this 2011 is right up there. With rich, complex blackberry and blueberry jam, cassis, salted grilled beef, black pepper and smoky oak flavors, it is sophisticated enough to drink with upscale fare. It should age well through 2020"

"...pepper and woodsy spice sit to the rear of well-defined, blackberry fruit first in the nose and then again in the flavors of this ripe and nicely filled wine. Balanced and well-sustained on the palate."

A Woman's Palate aims to promote women vintners and educate women about wine.
Article by Marylynn Uricchio / Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

A 2010 Gallup poll found that 48 percent of women who drink prefer wine, compared with 17 percent of men. Wine-tasting groups among women are on the increase, and wine merchants have made varied attempts to market directly to women. Some wineries have even created wines specifically targeted to female drinkers.... A Woman's Palate recognizes that the growing importance of wine in our culture extends into the business climate. As more women advance into the executive ranks and are expected to entertain, they want to know how to order wine for professional reasons as well as personal enjoyment.

Selected by Oprah's "O list"!...
This is a delight for us. The January issue of O Magazine featured our Umpqua Valley Gewurztraminer in the "White Essentials Super Flight" collection designed by Tastingroom.com. The story of Silk Purse is simple: Kerry's wanderings around the country as a wine consultant took him to many premium vineyard sites with absolutely delicious fruit. It became obvious to us that we needed to launch a small second brand and so we have focused on obtaining the highest quality fruit to pour into our Silk Purse line of wines.

"Kerry Damskey is only happy when he’s making wine—even if he has to go to India to do it...Some people have that ability, that knack of raising you up to their level of blissful connectedness to the world."

We had so much fun meeting with other women winemakers at the What Women Want Grand Tasting event, held at the Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco in June. The distinguished panel of the National Women's Wine Competition chose our Palmeri 2002 Cabernet Syrah for the 2007 Judges Choice Grand Sweepstakes Award.

2002 PALMERI Stagecoach Vineyard Napa Valley Syrah
"If not the most outgoung, fruit-bomb-style Syrah around, this deep and fairly complete effort certainly has enough ripe fruit at its heart to provide a solid platform for its complex mix of spice, stones, black pepper and dried berries. It is full in palate weight and firms at the back under the impact of normal tannins and balancing acidity, and, while it carries a hint of overripeness, it is table wine first and foremost."

"Intense and concentrated, with pretty floral, wild berry and blackberry flavors that are tightly wound and focused, with
touches of smoky oak folding in nicely, hints of tobacco
and cedar. Drink now through 2010. 165 cases made."
